23/10/2007 - PLEURAL PLAQUES DISAPPOINTMENT FOR CLAIMANTS

The House of Lords have rejected an appeal against the Court of Appeal decision which excludes suffers of the asbestos related disorder Pleural Plaques from making a claim for compensation.

Pleural Plaques is associated with asbestos exposure and can cause tremendous anxiety to those affected due to the increased risk of development of more significant illnesses such as asbestosis and mesothelioma.

It is thought tens of thousands of potential Claimants with the disease will be adversely affected by the decision which effectively puts an end to their claims.
